Jewish community group details 'unprecedented' security needs at royal commission

The peak body for Victoria's Jewish community says police engagement failed to engender a sense of safety in Melbourne's Jewish community in the face of rising antisemitism.
The Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion has been probing the security requirements of Australia's Jewish communities in the wake of the October 2023 Hamas terror attack in Israel.
Naomi Levin, from the Jewish Community Council of Victoria, was one of several witnesses to give evidence that security needs at Jewish sites soared as antisemitic incidents increased amid Israel's military campaign in Gaza over the following years.
