‘It is racism’: Ex-head of peak business council says antisemites, like her dad, must be confronted

The former head of Australia’s peak business council says antisemites – like her own father – must be confronted as she blasts LGBTQI+ and feminist groups for their “selective outrage”.

In a powerful submission to Australia’s royal commission on antisemitism and social cohesion, Jennifer Westacott blames a “failure of collective leadership”, including across governments and universities, for the virulent spread of Jewish hatred.

A gay woman and outspoken advocate for women’s rights, she says the very movements has stood with have let antisemitism “gain ground” through silence and double standards.

In many instances, the former Business Council of Australia (BCA) chief turned Western Sydney University chancellor, says university campuses were the hubs that amplified such views under the guise of “free speech”.
