Jewish community reflects as antisemitism royal commission hearings end

Wrapped in an embrace with her friends, Simone Abel entered the final hearing of the antisemitism royal commission.
"We are absolutely emotional," the head of legal for the Executive Counsel of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) said.
"This has been a very significant moment in time for us.
"We've all poured our hearts, souls and heads into this and we thank all of our allies and all of the people who have stood up for a better, fairer, more inclusive Australia."
The terms of reference for the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion have been sweeping, with the inquiry hearing from more than 340 witnesses over 62 days.
It was called after 15 people were killed and dozens more injured while celebrating Hanukkah at Bondi Beach on December 14, 2025.
